I had to kill them on the following platforms, iff the Haifa scheduler
was enabled:
sparc-sun-solaris2.6
sparc-sun-solaris2.5
sparc-sun-sunos4.1.3
mips-sgi-irix5.2
mips-sgi-irix6.3
Disabling the Haifa scheduler fixes the problem. I haven't
investigated it any further, sorry :-(
Linux platforms (RedHat 4.0/i386, RedHat 5.0/i386 and /alpha) did not
present this problem.
