Linking with library

I presume you have only the object code form of the library and that it
was built with g++ 2.7.x.  Sorry, you'll have to get whoever provided you
this library to rebuild it with the new compiler.  The good news is that
gcc-2.8.0 and egcs-1.0.1 will accept the same libraries (their name
mangling, C++ front end, and libstdc++ library are the same except for a
few details that should not affect linking).

Because of some features of the draft ANSI/ISO standard, there was no
choice; it was necessary to break link compatibility for template
functions.  This is because, for example

int main(int,int);

and

int main<int>(int, int);

are required to be considered different functions and must mangle
differently.
