CVS and patch

I'm considering starting to use CVS (ie. to pickup EGCS), but I have the
feeling that someone mentioned problems when using CVS with patch 2.5.

Does anyone know if patch 2.5 is ok or not?
(It is noticeably that 2.5 has different default operation to 2.1, but it
handles empty files etc better).
