Patch for memory explosion with templates/inlines /2

On a related note: I just checked, and as a matter of fact gcc-2.8.0 
(as of January 10th) exhibits the same bug as egcs-1.0.1. 

Is there any chance that Mark's patch gets propagated back to gcc before
their official release?

(Without that patch, we have a clear regression since gcc-2.7.x.)
