Are you saying that you have changed the default in the source?  We need
to be careful.  We've repeatedly told people that it's safe to install
egcs experimentally on Linux, since the default is to install into
/usr/local.  We don't want people accidentally doing "make install"
into /usr because they did not specify a prefix.
