Patch for memory explosion with templates/inlines /2

I noticed that the patch from Mark Mitchell against memory explosion 
with lots templates and inlines

did not make it into egcs-1.0.1. 

Was there any particular reason? (If not, it should be really included, 
as it fixes a serious bug, which breaks code compiling with gcc 2.7.)
