Andi,
when I built it the first time I complained that the image was too big for
the system. The actual error message -
>>Boot sector 512 bytes.
>>Setup is 1264 bytes.
>>System is 550 kB
>>System is too big. Try using bzImage or modules.
It suggested running make bzImage... So, I did, and the
complaints when away.
I built the kernel from the default configuration. I simply typed make
menuconfig and then exited and saved my configuration...
egcs parameters: -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -D__SMP__ -pipe
-fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2
-malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586
