hi,
in accordance with your request, i'm sending you this note to say that i
have succesfully built and installed ecgs-1.0.2.
i did experiance several 'Error 1   (ignored)' messages during the make
bootstrap and check stages.  i have not had a chance to put the compiler
through the hoops yet, so i don't know how significant those messages
were.  if you need more details i would be glad to supply them as i have
saved all the make messages.

the result of config.guess is
i586-pc-linux-gnu
