egcs-970924 on Alpha, DU4.0b

Hi,

Trying to compile egcs-970924 on an ALPHAStation 500 (DU4.0b), I get many 
messages like
  inst emulated pid=3100 <xgcc> va=0x11fffe952 pc=0x12000a14c inst=0x2829ffff
Are these os-messages ? Are they ok ?
(So far I only tried egcs on an i586-linux system.)


Moreover compilation always aborts with
  stage1/xgcc -Bstage1/  -W -Wall  -o f/fini f/fini.o f/proj-h.o

The machine is an ALPHAStation 500/266 with DU 4.0b:
  'uname -a' :
  OSF1 bacchus.whatever V4.0 564 alpha

Any help ?
