I once tried to build gcc on an hp system and found out that it couldn't
be done with the stock cc that comes with hpux since it is only for building
new kernels (I don't know anything about hpux and don't know if all
distributions are like that, or just the ones that came with the computers at
school. I could be very wrong). In fact the sys admin of the hp lab at
school told me hp wanted to charge the school somewhere around $10,000
for a c, c++ compiler with a multi user license. Anyway, they use gcc
and g++, but had to download a gcc binary, but I forget from where.
Have you been able to compile other programs?
