Basic question

Hi

I downloaded the Sept 17 snapshot (egcs-970917) in order to try it out
on my two HP-UX workstations. That for I'd need to know whether I need
to install some other GNU stuff in order to build egcs.


My workstations and their current installations are:

1) HP 720:
a clean HP-UX 10.20 OS with ANSI C, HP C++ and aC++ installed (all from
the HPUX transition kit)

2) HP 743 (a HP [BSTS] ATM test system):
HP-UX 9.0.5 with only the old&dirty C compiler (not ANSI). I also put
gcc 2.7.2.1 binaries on it, including binutils, gmake etc.)


After downloading a snapshot of egcs, in order to build it on my
machines, do I need to install something like gas, gmake before?
The included doc files refer to gcc 2.7.2.1, but I assume they apply to
egcs as well. Correct?

I quickly tried out on machine 1 (HP/UX 10.20):
./configure   --> work fine
make       --> after a while, following error:

/usr/ccs/bin/ld: unsatisfied symbols:
 alloca (code)
*** Error exit code 1

-> any more detailed log desired?
