OK. The 970910 has my updated bootstrap target. Should be noticably
better than the old one. Still doesn't work for cross targets though.

Your changes didn't make it into 970910, but they will be in the next
snapshot (I just installed them). I'll be looking at Alexandre Oliva's
changes in a couple minutes.
(Basically I ended up burning time trying to deal with problems exposed
by a new stl import, which I just ended up avoiding for this snapshot).
