It's built using whatever flags glibc's configure happens to
like---which, since HJ implies that it's not the default, suggests it
doesn't use -fno-exceptions.

Ah, but you have me around. :-)
We're using a 2.8.1.0.4. I'll see if I can't get Galen to consider an
update.
