Well, I've put it in the egcs FAQ.  I'm not sure who maintains the
crossgcc faq (I believe Doug resigned as maintainer a short while ago).

I don't think it does anything in egcs at the moment.  In Cygnus's gcc
tree it disables __eprintf in libgcc2, which has some marginal benefit
for cross builds.
