There is a bug in egcs 971122 on sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1. Compiling
bzip2 with -O2 -funroll-loops (or with the default compile flags from
the Makefile) makes the bzip2 binary crash when running its self test.
This does not occur with gcc 2.7.2.1 with the same flags, nor are there
any problems with SunPRO cc. Turning the optimization down below -O2 or
turning off -funroll-loops makes it work fine with egcs. Egcs was
compiled with a simple ./configure; make bootstrap. BTW, does that turn
on the Haifa scheduler? Should it be on for best performance? And what
flags should I use to generate optimal code for an UltraSparc?
