sparc-sun-solaris2.5, gcc -p always fails

	When I try to use the -p option in gcc-2.8.0-971213 or
egcs-971215 on sparc-sun-solaris2.5 I get the following error.

 > ld: fatal: file mcrt1.o: cannot open file; errno=2
 > ld: fatal: File processing errors.  No output written to a.out
