The results of running the testsuite immediately after applying my
three patches this afternoon looks pretty dire.  Just in case there's
some interaction between patches, I'm checking whether reverting my
bypass_conditional_jumps change makes any difference.  Any insight
that anybody else could provide would be appreciated.
