Synopsis: Compiler gives a segmentation fault

State-Changed-Why:
    The segmentation fault happens in the assembler, not the
    compiler proper. Since it works for me (and the program
    is so simple), I assume that this must be a problem with
    your local installation. Can you compiler anything at all?
