    This is a rather old bootstrap failure. Can you please check
    whether this still happens with newer versions of gcc and
    report back to us what you find?
    
    Please also build in a separate directory from the sources,
    as the installation instructions recommend and use
      make bootstrap
    instead of simply
      make
    
    I am 99% sure that this will fix your problem.
