    ASM_OUTPUT_LABELREF is no more set in config/elfos.h since
    this patch:
    2000-02-26  Geoff Keating  <geoffk@cygnus.com>
    
    	* config/elfos.h (ASM_OUTPUT_LABELREF): Don't define.  The default
    	is right for most ELF targets.
    
    Could you possibly check whether it works now for you with
    newer versions of gcc?
