 Hi there,
 
 I have encountered a similar problem compiling sudo which generates the
 same error messages as described in this bug report. The problem looks
 like it is in the gcc config process somewhere. I have changed
 /usr/ccs/bin/as to point to the gnu assembler and now the compiles work.
