 Yup. Just tried with:
 alpha_chris$ gcc -v
 Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/alphaev56-unknown-linux-gnu/3.0.1/specs
 Configured with: ../gcc/configure --prefix=/usr --enable-shared --enable-threads --with-system-zlib alphaev56-unknown-linux-gnu
 Thread model: posix
 gcc version 3.0.1 20010808 (prerelease)

 And I get:
 alpha_chris$ gcc -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -mno-fp-regs -ffixed-8 -mcpu=ev56 -Wa,-mev6 -c -o aic7xxx.o aic7xxx.i
 aic7xxx.c: In function `aic7xxx_load_seeprom':
aic7xxx.c:9381: Internal compiler error in reload, at reload1.c:1093
Please submit a full bug report,
 with preprocessed source if appropriate.
