    I believe this is fixed on the 3.0 branch.
    I checked in a fix on July 18 which added -liconv
    when it is required.
    Can you test this to make sure?
    Meanwhile, I'm closing the PR because I think it is fixed.
    If it still fails, we can reopen it.
