Thanks for the quick fix!  This eliminates the ICE for the real code,  
as well as for the test case.

I haven't done anything yet, but I still intend to work on PR 37039.   
I had expected to spend some time this week fixing the problem you  
just fixed, so instead I'll work on 37039.  I'll take a look at the  
other two Cray-pointer related bugs as well.
