I just submitted a patch just for this.

Now could you do me a favour and update the status of your improved
topformflat script in the wiki? It is not very clear what the second
argument is or does.

Also, why is it not in contrib? Ideally, I will propose that you first
commit the original to contrib, then your version on top, so we can do
eventual merges with upstream.
