The other consideration worth mentioning is RealView compatibility.  If
we don't do this now, then we preserve G++ compatibility; if we do it
now, then we increase the ability of users to combine code built with
RealView and G++.  I'm not trying to argue to strongly for this; it's
certainly up to the maintainers to determine the timing.
