Thanks for the review.  Applied.  (And yes, regtest did not
show new regressions.)

While I knew that, and I would go by this rule for simple, small
patches, I'm wary of using this rule for large patches such as this
one, if only to avoid unnecessary conflicts for, say, branch merges.

Mindless patches such as this one shouldn't impede others.  ;-)
