You're Very Likely on a system with either ftruncate or chsize. :)

It's not like it segfaults, it just doesn't really truncate;
maybe that's not double-checked in other tests.

Sorry, insufficient resources at the moment.  In a few days,
sure.  To be honest, I'd rather focus on fd_truncate, but right
now, I can neither.
