Many thanks Mark. Note, I'm reading the above as an approval of the 
gthr.h and gthr-posix.h changes too, for which we don't have a ChangeLog 
entry ready, AFAICS. In anywa case, Chris, can you please attach one? 
And, in case, I will take care of committing.
