[fortran, 4.2] Query regarding backporting patches to 4.2.

I have the following two Fortran patches which have been in trunk for a 
while, but have not yet been backported to 4.2.  Are either of them 
appropriate to backport?

Remove -fmodule-private:

I'm already working on backporting the patch to bail out after some 
maximum number of errors.  I think that and these two are all of the 
Fortran patches I've committed that could potentially be backported and 
haven't yet.
