Kaveh, I think we've got the consensus I was seeking.  Therefore, unless
anyone objects in the next 24 hours, I'm going to stand by my last
position: apply your patch for 4.1, remove the options for 4.2/mainline.
 Or, rather, make them issue errors in 4.2/mainline, so that users
upgrading from 4.1 will not be silently surprised that the option is
ignored.
