Mike,
   I assume you are referring to the problems building
libffi and libjava -m64 on Intel Darwin. While you're fixing those,
don't forget that although libffi builds at -m64 on Darwin PPC
it doesn't really work. That needs to be addressed as well
for gcc 4.3.
