darwin7.9.0 - darwin8 support for mainline

Whee...  that was wrong...  I'v updated the patch and now I think  
this one is now right.  I checked i686-apple-darwin9 -m32 and -m64,  
i686-apple-darwin8 -m32 and -m64 and powerpc-apple-darwin9 and  
everything seems to be in order.

Checked into mainline.
