I am not sure about what it really is :-( so I started by making it a 
param; I am open to changes.  When I have some time I am going to run 
SPECfp with various --param settings, but anyway I can do it only on a 
single architecture (i686) because on the other machines I have it takes 
just too long even for a single iteration.
