I'll approve this for the 4.1 branch, after the 4.1 branch is created.

I would rather not approve it for mainline, because 1) CRIS is not a
primary target; 2) you might get hit by a truck and then this macro
would sit in the code for years.

Also, it would be nice to add a test case.

After the 4.1 branch let's put the correct fix on mainline.
