When translations are automatically sent to gcc-patches by the Translation
Project Robot, I (or the i18n maintainer) add them to mainline CVS.  
Release managers also check whether the translations on a release branch
are up to date and update them if necessary just before a release.  In
order to avoid arbitrating conflicts between translations for the same
language from different sources, and in order to make sure that the
translation disclaimer is on file with the FSF, we only take translations
that have gone through the TP Robot (which checks automatically that the
disclaimers are on file); any new translation for a language received from
the TP Robot will be presumed to supersede previous translations for that
language.  Thus you should get your file through the TP Robot following
the instructions at
<http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/translation/HTML/translators.html>.

The German translation for GCC has had a few updates lately, each of which
I've committed to mainline as they've been sent by the Robot to
gcc-patches (while leaving the 3.3.3 Release Manager to deal with updating
the many translations that are out of date on the 3.3 branch).

Note that there is a bug (13485) meaning that at present on mainline some
messages do not get extracted into gcc.pot.  So great care must be taken
in any 3.4 translation work not to lose previous translations relevant to
those messages, and if 3.4 branches before this problem is fixed then
gcc.pot for 3.4 should not be submitted to the TP after branching, but
should wait until the problem has been fixed.
