Yes! Thanks a tonne for this Michael - you earn the
gratitude of many a GCJ hacker.

However I find that install.texi says we should have
automake 1.8.5 for everything except Java (libjava)
where automake 1.9.1 is needed. Would anyone know
why this disparity needs to exist? (I mean, I know
1.9.1 is required for libjava, but why can't it be
used for the others?)
