gas is not available for Alpha/Tru64 UNIX, so one needs mips-tfile to get
any debugging information on that platform.

I'm currently working to revive support for the MIPS O32 ABI on IRIX 6, and
have an old patch (by Michael Joosten) to mips-tfile to support
stabs-in-mdebug in ELF with the native as.
