C identifier lookup speedups, 2/2

Hi Zack,

This patch seems to cause compile/920625-1.c to fail with

  920625-1.s:8394: Fatal error: C_EFCN symbol out of scope

on h8300-hms.  I also tried the CVS HEAD at 16:40 on Apr 12, but that
seems to have the same problem.  Is there any way you could look into
this?

I have to start by learning what C_EFCN means...
