Yes, well, "./configure; make bootstrap" would work with Phil's patch
too...

I think we've reached a point where we should agree to disagree. I
think I understand your argument, but I'm not buying.
I'm hoping we'll get some other input (hint, hint, people!) so we can
avoid making what will seem an arbitrary decision. Phil, a concrete
question here: do you agree with the changes I suggested? Are you
willing to implement them pretty much immediately? :-)
