Yes.  

When it just works seem to be strongly correlated with the
astrological theme in effect when ./configure is invoked.

It doesn't nicely play with previous releases.  Which means, everyone
will be forced to use the CVS autoconf of the moment.

However I'm not against autoconf people making an official release and
telling us: Well, here is a well tested, official and reference
release; you might want to use it in your project.
