OK, I will go upstream and submit a patch to libtool.  I'm reading the
libtool mailing list archives now.

Do you really mean multi-language-branch in libtool?  Gary Vaughan said
that he merged MLB to HEAD last weekend.

I can work in either MLB branch, HEAD branch, or both.  Please advise.

I wonder that as well.  I did find one bug report that I linked to
(PR other/3055).  But several people have reported compiler bugs with
gcc 3.0 on hpux 11.00 which imply that they got through the build process.

Maybe it's a function of what $(CONFIG_SHELL) is, or what patch level their
operating system is.
