I'm not sure how one would quantify a "win" in this case. :)  At present,
it is true that the applicability of the patch is limited to MacOS, 
though
presumably this could change if/when GNU Pascal comes into being.  Also,
I guess I would not consider the patch to be excessively complicated,
though reasonable people can disagree on this (and I certainly respect
your view here).

This is certainly a fair question, and one that Stan (who's out of town
today) can probably address.   I certainly can't. :(
