I prefer the `!x' style, but I don't think that anything but personal
sense of aesthetic can establish which is preferable.  (Well, perhaps
some HCI people could actually study whether there are fewer bugs in
programs that use one style or the other, or something.)

I would like to see whoever arbitrates the GNU coding standards make a
decision; then we can just follow it.
