why aren't the old i370 patches in gcc-2.95?

Hi,

I noticed that the old (May 99) i370 patches didn't make it into gcc-2.95.
Can someone explain this decision? Since I suspect that the chances are
slim that they'll appear in 2.95.2, I'm lead to ask the question:
what is the projected date that one can expect these patches to go
mainstream?

BTW, In case there are any questions as to stability & function:
We're booting the linux kernel, loading /bin/sh, and working on
getting a more fully functional glibc. So things are working.
Don't take my word for it; this stuff is discussed on the LINUX-VM
mailing list. (There's even a guy on the list who has a 390 emulator
that runs on linux & is able to boot the kernel within the emulator:
in short, he's got a linux box that can run multiple virtual linux
machines :-) Maybe slowww, but conceptually cool. I've got a gcc
patch in the works to enable pic, and am hot to get this stuff
through the pipeline and out the door.
