I'm not worrying about that myself -- it seemed to work fine, even
after further checking I've since done into problems I thought I was
seeing (turns out gdb might be having a problem printing complex
values in Fortran mode, or perhaps that's a code-gen problem, but it
isn't related to this patch).

No.  Not at this stage.  We've got so many compile-time code-generation
options anyway, let's not add those that people don't both ask for *and*
demonstrate a clear need for.  Let them use the language they want to use
to get the semantics (and local "cultural assumptions") that they want,
in the meantime.
