Ok, which branch/tag do I use for egcs 1.1.2?

egcs_1_1_branch is the right place.

Well, the only thing that comes to mind is the problems you had when
attempting to check in to both the mainline and the branch at the same

Looking at the CVS logs I see evidence of your checkins on the mainline
tree, but not the branch.

Other folks (Alexandre, Richard Henderson for example) have managed to
successfully check in changes to the branch.
