Yes. The trouble is that testing the `U77' part of the library
doesn't look like something one can automate reliably, though probably
what's there (mainly slung together for my benefit when writing the
stuff) could be tidied up.

I wonder why no-one else has tripped over that... (I don't think it's
so on Irix or Solaris, which are the only SVR4ish I know.)
