Yep, that must be it: I am using the egcs-1.1.1-prerelease from the 1st
of November (just kiddin' :-)

OK, I'll try it tonight with the system's compiler on NEXTSTEP 3.2,
which is a derivative of gcc-2.2.2.

Caveat: I have CVS-updated at 199812151900UTC, so the target is moving
...

More results tomorrow (that's around midnight MST).
