Change compile target of gcc

[KW via gcc-help]

Hello,

I am trying to compile gcc-8.2.0 on OpenSuSE Leap 15. The compile target 
defaults to x86_64-pc-linux-gnu. I tried to export my target as 
x86_64-suse-linux to no avail. How do I go about changing my target? Is 
this a bug?
